The IPTL team concept: an intriguing twist in tennis’ evolution

As the PLDT Fibr International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) rages on here, audiences are getting their fair share of world-class tennis action from some of the biggest stars in the game.

Truly, the presence of such iconic names like Andy Murray, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Thomas Berdych and of course the stunners in Ana Ivanovic, Daniela Hantuchova, Sania Mirza and the ever dazzling Maria Sharapova have electrified the Filipino enthusiasts and have converted a multitude to admire this game wrought in tradition.

But as the inaugural tournament—presented by in the Philippines by PLDT Home Fibr, the country’s most powerful broadband provider—has thus far been successful in enthralling the sell-out crowds, the unique application of the “team” concept has baffled many long time aficionados of the sport and the players involved find themselves adjusting to this innovation in more ways than one.
