The Generika Lifesavers once again survived another five-set thriller after beating the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-19, 25-20, 20-25, 22-25, 15-9, on Wednesday in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Natalia Korobkova led Generika with a game-high 26 points while Abigail MaraƱo had an all-around performance with 14 points, 7 blocks and 13 digs. In addition, Cha Cruz chalked up 13 points.
Meanwhile, Cignal’s import tandem of Lindsay Stalzer and Sarah Julie Ammerman had a combined 41 points.
“Maganda yung nilalaro niya [Korobkova] pero endurance niya mababa pa dahil napapagod agad,” said Generika head coach Ramil de Jesus. “Wala naman kaming special na ginagawa sa training. Active recovery lang siguro and digging, and service.”
With this win, Generika now moves up to second place in the standings with a 5-3 record while Cignal is undergoing an untimely funk after dropping their last four straight games.
